OXNARD : Head-on Crash Into Tree Kills Motorist
A 26-year-old Oxnard man died Friday morning when his car smashed head-on into a eucalyptus tree on the Pacific Coast Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
John A. Montoya died of head injuries after his 1993 Nissan plowed into a tree in the road’s median at 9:30 a.m., according to CHP officers. He was traveling north on the highway, just beyond the Nauman Road exit, they said.
Officers did not know how fast Montoya was driving or why his car hit the tree.
He was wearing a seat belt but died from the force of the impact, they said.
