A Magic Move by Lakers or Just Another Trick?

Share

Good move by the Lakers in bringing back Magic to coach.

Don’t get fooled, though. This is just a marketing gimmick. Now the Lakers will be able to sell out all of their home games until the end of the season.

We hope that Magic comes back next year and really makes a go at it.

I was surprised to hear Magic Johnson say at his news conference: “It’s going to be my way. It’s either that or have a seat.”

Evidently, he has forgotten about his playing days when Paul Westhead was his coach.

I have watched my last Laker game--until the next change in coaches.

How exciting it is to have the next great Laker coach taking his rightful place on the L.A. bench. Here’s wishing Michael Cooper the same success he helped bring to the club in the ‘80s.

Have Jerry Buss and Jerry West lost their senses?

The Lakers are a team in transition. They are more successful in this rebuilding phase than other powerhouses of the 1980s like Detroit and Boston.

Replacing the coach of a potential playoff team to see if Magic “likes to coach” is a huge mistake.

Well, wasn’t that nice of everyone to show up at the Laker game on Sunday. Finally a crowd bigger than one at a high school tennis match.

Just one question: Where were they the last 66 games?

My guess is that they were busy riding the bandwagon of the Dallas Cowboys and Toronto Blue Jays, except for the time they came by to see Shaq play. I bet that half of the people there, including some of the movie stars, didn’t even recognize most of the Lakers.

As much as I love to see a huge crowd, it bothers me to see such a phony one. Anyway, congratulations to Coach Magic.

It was a good week for Johnson and a bad week for Johnson. Way to go Magic. Sorry, Jimmy.
