Alabama seemed to lose its momentum when Niesa Johnson, the team’s floor leader, cut her right hand hitting a faucet in the locker room at halftime. Seven stitches were needed to close the cut and she missed the first 4 1/2 minutes of the second half.

“Right at the start of the second half, I couldn’t feel my fingers, but it started coming along fairly quickly,” Johnson said. “I would not have played in a normal situation.”
