THOUSAND OAKS : Youths’ Dispute Leads to Gunfire

Share

A verbal dispute between two groups of teen-agers escalated into gunfire early Easter Sunday as two of the youths were driving away from the scene, investigators said.

Two 17-year-olds from Thousand Oaks were driving west on Lynn Road at Avenida de las Floras about 3 a.m. Sunday when they heard between one and four shots fired at them from behind, sheriff’s deputies said.

A bullet pierced their car, passed through a headrest and grazed the scalp of one of the boys, deputies said. The youth, whose name was not released because of his age, was treated at Los Robles Regional Medical Center and released, officials said.

Investigators said a dispute between the pair and another group of four or five juveniles provoked the shooting. All are believed to be involved in gangs, according to deputies.

Police are looking for the suspects, who fled west on Lynn Road in a black car, authorities said.
