Ex-Chamber, Rotary Official Dies
Russell Richard Brooks of La Habra, who once served as president of both the city’s Rotary Club and its chamber of commerce, died Wednesday. He was 80.
During his lifetime of public service, Brooks was involved with chambers of commerce in Holtville, Fullerton, La Habra, Brea and San Benito County. He also served as vice president and secretary of the California Chamber of Commerce and president of both the Southern California Chamber of Commerce Managers Assn. and the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
Brooks also taught small business management for 10 years in the North Orange County Junior College District, and for two years was assistant to the president of Alpha Beta Acme Markets in La Habra.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Judith Kritz of Lake Arrowhead; sisters, Marjorie Brooks Franklin of Honolulu and Olive Brooks McPherson of Saratoga, Calif., and grandsons, Jeffrey Kritz of Fullerton and Eric Kritz of San Bernardino.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton Aboretum at California State University, Fullerton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Patrons of the Library at Cal State Fullerton.
