PREP ROUNDUP : Bolle Leads El Modena’s Easy Victory

Kristi Bolle hit a grand slam and a two-run home run, drove in seven runs and scored four to lead El Modena to a 14-0 victory over host Costa Mesa in a nonleague softball game called after six innings because of the mercy rule.

Bolle drove in one of her runs with her third hit of the game, a single, and Jennie Foyle also had three hits, scored three runs and had two runs batted in for the Vanguards, who scored five runs in the third inning and added two in the fourth, four in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.

In other nonleague softball:

Orange 2, Katella 0--Cari Habhab had two hits and two RBIs for host Orange (7-3).

Canyon 1, Esperanza 0 (8)--Veronica Lopez hit an RBI single for Canyon (7-4) in the top of the eighth, scoring Nina Lindenberg for the victory.

Savanna 4-3, Calvary Chapel 1-2--Sandra Mulder struck out three and gave up two earned runs to lead Savanna (5-11) in the second game.

In Century League golf:

Villa Park 179, Orange 211--Jay Finnane shot two-under-par 31 and Ryan Michel shot two-over 35 to lead Villa Park (3-0 in league) at Riverview Golf Course.

In the Empire League:

Esperanza 202, Katella 212--Chris Berry and Ryan Donovan each shot two-over 37 to lead Esperanza (9-0, 3-0) at Yorba Linda Country Club.

El Dorado 203, Los Alamitos 205--Ryan Chavez shot two-over 37 at Western Hills to lead El Dorado (7-3, 1-1).

In the Orange League:

Western 202, Magnolia 267--Tiger Woods shot par 36 at Los Coyotes for host Western (6-3, 2-1).

Valencia 193, Savanna 269--John Lee, James Wooley and Chris Porter each shot par 37 to lead Valencia (7-2, 2-0) at Alta Vista.

In nonleague golf:

Brea-Olinda 191, Cerritos 199--Mike Peterson and Paul Chiotti shot a two-under 34 at Imperial for host Brea (7-3).

In the Orange League boys’ track and field:

Valencia 88, Magnolia 45--Phil Franklin won the 200 meters (23.29), long jump (19-11) and triple jump (41-7) and Jeremiah Springer won the 110 hurdles (16.26) and 300 hurdles (43.29) to lead host Valencia (1-1, 1-0).

In the Orange League girls’ track and field:

Valencia 66, Magnolia 56--Jenny Gonzalez won the 1,600 (6:00) and 3,200 (13:27), Rachel Ferrai won the 100 (16.0) and Naomi Ross won the shotput (31-10) to lead Valencia (1-1, 1-0).

In Freeway League boys’ tennis:

Fullerton 14, La Habra 7--Albert Alvara and Brian Singer won, 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, Jimmy Phu and Sam Mankiewicz won, 6-1, 7-5, 6-0, and Aaron Olea and Tim White won, 6-1, 6-3, 6-1, in doubles for Fullerton (4-8, 1-1).

In the Century League:

Canyon 16 1/3, Santa Ana Valley 4 2/3--Paul Espinosa swept in singles, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, and Jerry Liao and Heath Kula swept in doubles, 6-4, 6-0, 6-0, to lead Canyon (10-1, 2-0).

In the Sea View League:

Newport Harbor 3, Saddleback 0--Mitch McCoy had 12 kills and four aces and Eric Vallely added 10 kills and three aces to lead Newport Harbor, 16-14, 15-10, 15-3. The Sailors are 6-2, 5-0.

In the Sunset League:

Ocean View 17, Santa Ana 1--Paul Choi and Nam Tran did not lose a game in singles for visiting Ocean View (8-2, 6-1).
