City Hall News : PASADENA : Bias Allegations by Women Aimed at City Attorney Are Investigated

Share

An independent consultant is investigating allegations of discrimination against women who work in the Pasadena city attorney’s office.

The investigation into whether City Atty. Victor J. Kaleta discriminated against his female employees is to be completed in several weeks, said Ramon Curiel, director of affirmative action, who would not release details of the probe.

Kaleta could not be reached for comment. But a memo he issued to his staff said the investigation is focusing on allegations of “differential treatment as they relate to the (complainant) and other female professionals in the city attorney’s office (and) . . . of preferential treatment toward male professionals . . . related to personnel actions.”

The memo also indicated that the female staffer had complained before and that Kaleta called for the investigation to clear the air.
