LA MIRADA : City Urged to Pay for Extra Library Hours

Share

Library supporters are petitioning the city to help pay for additional hours at the local county library branch, which dropped three days of service after budget cuts in August.

Friends of the La Mirada Library, a community group headed by library volunteers, collected 2,000 signatures on petitions last month, said Loretta Abel Amley, chairwoman of the organization’s Committee to Save the Library. “We would like to finance at least one more day of library service,” Amley said. “It’s for the benefit of La Mirada citizens.”
