Four men armed with semiautomatic handguns and knives robbed a Westminster medical office Thursday, then used keys taken from one of the victims to invade an apartment in Huntington Beach, police said.

The robbers entered the medical office in the 9000 block of Edinger Avenue sometime before 11 a.m., Officer Robin Kapp of the Westminster Police Department said.

Seven people inside the office were robbed of an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry, and tied up. Two of the assailants then took a set of keys from one of the victims and drove her car to her apartment in Huntington Beach.

Huntington Beach police said they believe the two robbers used the keys to enter the apartment in a large complex in the 8400 block of Edinger Avenue.

They surprised the victim’s 30-year-old husband and threatened him with a kitchen knife that one of them was carrying, Lt. Luis Ochoa of the Huntington Beach Police Department said. They put a towel over his head, tied him up, and ransacked the apartment of an undetermined amount of cash and jewelry, he said.

They then phoned the doctor’s office in Westminster and informed the two other assailants that they were finished, Ochoa said. The men at both locations left.

The victim at the apartment and the victims at the doctor’s office managed to free themselves and called police. No one was injured in either incident, police said.

The robbers were described as being in their mid-20s, wearing baggy clothing and bandannas. Police said they were still searching for the stolen car.
