SIMI VALLEY : Landowners Again Offer City Parcels

Share

For the second time in four months, a group of Simi Valley landowners with property zoned for a regional mall are offering to sell two neighboring parcels to the city.

Rick Lagomarsino, Robert Eadington and Bub and Kathleen Orton are scheduled to meet in closed session with the City Council on Monday to discuss the price of the property.

In December, Gary Seaton of Mitchell Realtors, representing the landowners, offered to sell the city the 80 acres of undeveloped land for about $8.8 million--about the same per-square-foot price the city paid a month earlier for 32 acres nearby.

But City Manager Lin Koester rejected the offer, saying the city had achieved its goal of owning a key piece of mall land with the 32-acre purchase.

The amount being requested by the landowners this time is being kept confidential until negotiations are completed.

In mid-December the city agreed to pay $3.5 million for the 32-acre parcel, hoping they could use it to lure a mall developer to the city.
