BUENA PARK : Supervisors to Select New Library Trustee

Share

Because the Buena Park Library District board could not decide last week who to select to fill a vacancy on its panel, the Board of Supervisors will select a new trustee, library director Colleen McGregor said.

The trustees had narrowed its choice to Carol Macera and Lucinda (Cindy) Alibrandi, both Buena Park residents.

But the supervisors are under no obligation to select either of the two finalists.

McGregor said it is hoped that the supervisors will make a selection within 30 days.

The term of the vacated position expires in November, when the selected candidate would have to run for election to the board.

Eight candidates applied for the position vacated by Bill Hardin, who resigned after 13 years on the board.

Macera, a telephone operator and law student, has worked on political campaigns and was appointed as a delegate to the Democratic Central Committee.

Alibrandi, who holds a doctorate degree in psychology, is a Cypress College professor and director of the college’s Human Services Department.

Board President Patricia Ganer and Trustee Robert Niccum voted to select Alibrandi.

Trustees Helen Bohen and Edward Erdtsieck favored candidate Macera.
