Kent Sullivan, a former Cal Lutheran punter, signed with the San Diego Chargers, the NFL team announced.

Sullivan is a beneficiary of the NFL’s new salary cap. He replaces John Kidd, an unrestricted free agent who made $500,000 last season. Terms of Sullivan’s contract were not disclosed.

Sullivan, who will turn 30 May 15, was with the Chargers three times last year when Kidd was hurt, and punted in two games.
