BEVERLY HILLS : Beverly Hills Weekly Ceases Publication

Share

The Beverly Hills Post, a weekly newspaper with roots on the Westside since 1928, ceased publication this week.

The tabloid-sized publication fell victim to the divorce of its owner, Margaret (Peggy) Harris, and her husband, Walter, who could not agree on its disposition in their settlement.

Employees were told on Thursday that talks had collapsed and Friday’s edition would not be published. The Post, which was distributed free, was also hurt by weak advertising sales.

The Beverly Hills Post was the final survivor of a newspaper group based on Robertson Boulevard that once printed publications serving West Hollywood, along with the Pico-Robertson and Century City districts of Los Angeles. The Post’s demise leaves the Beverly Hills Courier as the city’s only newspaper.
