Architects to Honor Park at Convention

Architect Ki Suh Park has been named recipient of the American Institute of Architects’ 1994 Whitney M. Young Jr. Citation, which recognizes architects’ contributions to society.

The award, named for the late Civil Rights leader who in 1968 challenged America’s architects to assume professional responsibility toward social issues, will be presented May 13 at the AIA’s national convention in Los Angeles, where Park serves as chairman of the host city’s AIA convention committee.

Sponsored by author James Michener and artist Norman Rockwell, Park arrived in the U. S. from his native South Korea in 1953. He is now managing partner of Gruen Associates, directing the firm’s worldwide architectural, planning and transportation services.
