High school athletic teams and individual student-athletes will be honored at the ninth CIF-Southern Section Academic Awards ceremonies before the Angels-Baltimore Orioles game April 28 at Anaheim Stadium.

Ocean View’s badminton team, with a 3.63 grade-point average, and Calvary Chapel’s wrestling team (3.53 GPA) will be among 23 academic teams honored by the program, which is sponsored by the Angels, the Ford Motor Company and the Murdy Foundation.

To be considered, teams must have accomplished a minimum 3.0 average (on a 4.0 scale) in college-prep courses for the first semester of the 1993-94 school year. The highest GPA in each sport determined the champions.
