AND ONE MORE THING: Rhino Records had so much success with its “Golden Throats” albums a few years ago--you know, the collections of such pop abominations as William Shatner Method acting through “Rocket Man” and Sebastian Cabot reciting Bob Dylan--that the company is creating a whole new Golden Throats label. Three new volumes are being prepared: “Spy Music,” “White Men Can’t Rap” and “Soft, Safe & Sanitized.”

Highlights (?) of the first include the original “James Bond,” “Peter Gunn,” “Mission Impossible” and “Goldfinger” themes, plus the likes of “Get Smart” co-star Barbara Feldon’s “Messing With 99.” The “White Men” edition features such dope deliveries as Jack Webb’s “Try a Little Tenderness.” The third volume sounds like the can’t-miss collection, though, with Joel Grey’s version of Cream’s “White Room,” the Lettermen harmonizing on the Doors’ “Touch Me” and Bing Crosby’s easygoing take on “Hey Jude.”*
