MGM Names Marenzi Head of Global TV Distribution

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. has named Gary Marenzi president of international TV distribution and worldwide pay TV operations. As head of the newly formed telecommunications group, Marenzi, 38, will be responsible for distribution business affairs and business development for worldwide television. He joined MGM in September, 1992.

* Sony Pictures has appointed Bryan Lee senior vice president of the Motion Pictures Group, where he will direct operational strategies.

* John Hunter has been appointed chief financial officer at Pacific Theaters in Los Angeles.

* Kathryn Sommer has joined Atlas Entertainment as president of motion pictures production.

* Showscan has named Chuck Allen vice president of theater operations.

* Ruben Aprile is the new managing director and chief executive officer for PolyGram Argentina.

* Jim Henson Productions said retired Vice Chairman David Lazer has been named vice chairman emeritus. Peter Schube has been named general counsel and Linda Govreau was promoted to vice president of finance and administration.

* Universal Studios Hollywood has promoted Scott Nostaja to senior vice president of administration.

* Samuel Goldwyn Co.’s Landmark Theatre Corp. has named Cary Jones director of marketing, Maureen Ryan director of advertising and Nina Donnelly a film buyer.
