Sweeney, Hebert Lead Team USA to Another Victory

The Mighty Ducks’ Tim Sweeney scored two goals and Duck teammate Guy Hebert had 41 saves as the United States beat the Czech Republic, 5-3, Thursday in the World Hockey Championships.

Sweeney, Craig Wolanin and Peter Ciavaglia scored in the first period as Team USA remained unbeaten in three games and virtually clinched a place in next week’s medal round.

The Czechs tied the score, 3-3, at 5:56 in the third, but Team USA went up 4-3 when Sweeney scored his second, at 9:01 on an assist from Duck teammate Joe Sacco. At 17:52, Bill Lindsay of the Florida Panthers scored his third goal of the tournament.
