CITY ARTS : <i> Pachanga!</i>

The fifth annual L.A. Fiesta Broadway, a block party that draws about a quarter of a million revelers each year to the Downtown Broadway shopping district, is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

Food, live bands, games and exhibits will be provided along 36 city blocks centering on Broadway and extending between 1st Street and Olympic Boulevard. In addition to more than 250 food and display booths, there will be family attractions such as a children’s play area; a one-ring circus with live animals, clowns and face painters; Disneyland’s Roger Rabbit stage show, and Nintendo’s 40-foot video game trailer.

More than 70 Latin musical stars will perform on nine stages, and boxer and Olympic gold medalist Oscar de la Hoya will sign autographs at the event’s World Sports Center. Cristina Saralegui, a Spanish-language television talk show hostess, and comedian Paul Rodriguez will be emcees for TV coverage.

The fiesta benefits Miracle on Broadway, a public-private partnership that works toward revitalizing the Broadway corridor. L.A. Fiesta Broadway has donated $200,000 to the partnership from past events.
