Open House for Teachers Planned

Teachers preparing for administrative roles or looking to further their careers are invited to an open house Wednesday at Cal State Northridge’s Ventura campus.

The Ventura campus offers both a master’s degree in educational administration and a preliminary administrative credential, which are useful to those preparing to become principals or assume other administrative roles.

“I have encouraged this degree for women and minorities who want to advance to administrative roles,” said Joyce M. Kennedy, director of the Ventura campus.

“Very often in the past, women were locked in the teaching role, and men tended to get promoted to administrative positions. This is a chance to advance not only into administrative roles but in their teaching careers as well.”

Among the courses offered in the curriculum are those in organizational administration, curriculum development, school and community relations, and California school law.

Faculty members from the department will be on hand to answer questions.

For information, call the campus at 654-4575.
