Last week, Marino moved from third to second in the Kennedy lineup. Good move. Marino batted .900 (nine for 10) in three victories that moved the Fighting Irish into second place in the Garden Grove League. Marino, who raised his batting average to a team-leading .443, hit three home runs and scored eight runs and drove in seven. He was four for four in a 9-1 victory over Los Amigos Wednesday and an 11-0 victory over Pacifica Thursday. Friday, he was one for two--and was hit by a pitch twice--in a 7-3 victory over Garden Grove.

Other notables:

* Mark Gonzalez, Sonora, won the 100 meters in 11.1 seconds, the 200 (22.5) and the triple jump (42 feet 0 inches) in a 64-63 victory over La Habra.

* Bryan Heyl and Darron Evans, Trabuco Hills, won their doubles sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, in a 12 2/3-8 1/3 victory over Laguna Beach.

* Dave Searle, Edison, shot two-over-par 37 at Hacienda Golf Club to lead the Chargers to a 211-214 upset of Servite.

* Tony Zuniga, Saddleback, pitched a two-hitter in a 5-0 victory over Newport Harbor. Drove in three with a double in 5-2 victory over Irvine.
