BREA : Students Get Reward for Exposing Vandal

Share

Trustees of the Brea Olinda Unified School District have decided to reward two Brea Junior High School students for turning in a local student suspected of vandalism.

The Brea Canyon High School student was expelled last month for defacing the junior high building, school officials said.

Each of the students will receive $100 for helping administrators find the vandal. Officials said the expelled student’s parents will be expected to pay half the reward, along with half the cost of the graffiti removal. The district will pay the other half.

School board member Frank Davies praised the two junior high students for reporting the vandal to authorities.

“I think (the junior high students) have got a lot of pride in their school, and they want to keep it looking like an ideal school to go to,” Davies said.
