A slow-moving storm drenched Orange County with scattered rain showers Friday, and forecasters are predicting brief downpours and isolated thunderstorms over the weekend.

The storm coasted down from Northern California and arrived in the afternoon, one day later than originally predicted. Bruce Thoren, a meteorologist at WeatherData Inc., said rain fell in small amounts throughout most of the county but some areas experienced isolated heavy showers. WeatherData provides forecasts for The Times.

Santa Ana received .03 of an inch of rain by 5:30 p.m., while most other cities reported only traces. Santa Ana has recorded 12.22 inches of rain to date, compared to 22.67 inches for the same period last year. The season norm to date for Santa Ana is 12.44 inches, Thoren said.
