A Ventura man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and drunk driving after hitting and killing an Oxnard man who was riding his bicycle down the middle of Oxnard Boulevard about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, an Oxnard Police Department spokesman said.

The victim, who police said also had been drinking, was riding north without lights when he was struck by a pickup truck driven by Alejandro Ramirez, 34, of Ventura. The force of the collision threw the victim more than 125 feet, the spokesman said.

The victim’s name was not released while authorities try to notify his relatives, the spokesman said.
