UCLA Streaks Past USC in Track and Field

The UCLA men’s and women’s track and field teams beat USC in quadrangular and dual-meet competition Saturday at UCLA’s Drake Stadium.

The Bruin men won, 97-61. It was their 16th consecutive dual-meet victory over the Trojans, dating to 1978. Marcus Reed (100- and 200-meter dash) and John Godina (shotput and discus) each won two events for UCLA.

The Bruin women’s streak against USC is now at two, after winning, 94-42. Roshanda Glenn (triple jump), Keisha Marvin (400-meter hurdles) and Camille Noel (400-meter dash) each won one event and joined Darlene Malco to win the 400-meter relay.

USC’s Paul Greene won the 400-meter dash and anchored USC’s winning 1,600 relay.

The UCLA men won the quadrangular meet with 74 points. USC was second (53), Brigham Young was third (42) and Washington was fourth (36). In its other men’s dual meets, the Bruins beat Washington, 99-61, and Brigham Young, 104-57.

The UCLA women won their quadrangular meet with 63 points. Washington was second (46), Brigham Young was third (41) and USC was fourth (24). In other women’s dual meets, the Bruins beat Washington, 72-64, and Brigham Young, 75-61.
