Countywide : Teachers Feted for Work With Latinos

Share

Fifty teachers from three school districts in Fullerton and Garden Grove will be honored Saturday by the Assn. of Mexican American Educators of Orange County for their work with Latino students.

AMAE adopted the Mexican tradition of annually honoring teachers about 20 years ago. Each year, the group recognizes teachers who have contributed to the education of Latino students through English language development classes and other programs.

The association picks different districts around Orange County each year to honor, and this year it will recognize teachers from the Fullerton Elementary, Fullerton Joint Union High and Garden Grove Unified school districts.

The event will feature a motivational speaker, poetry readings and Mexican folklorico dances. It will be held at the Crown Sterling Suites in Anaheim at a cost of $14 per person.

AMAE officials are urging the public to take time to thank teachers for their dedication. To attend the recognition breakfast or receive more information, call (714) 997-6143.
