MISSION VIEJO : CHP Seeking Man Who Beat Motorist

Share

California Highway Patrol officers are seeking help in locating a man they said beat a motorist who had stopped for a red light after exiting Interstate 5.

A 44-year-old Mission Viejo man told officers that shortly before 11 a.m. Saturday he was beaten while stopped for a light at the freeway’s southbound Avery Parkway off-ramp.

The victim, whom officers did not identify, said a man who might have exited the freeway behind him walked up to his car and began beating him through the driver’s side window with a metal object, leaving him with a broken nose and other injuries requiring 35 stitches.

“He was cut up real bad,” CHP spokesman Bruce Lian said. “This may have followed some sort of traffic dispute.”

The CHP is looking for a man in his late 40s or early 50s, driving a white, late-model Honda Accord with a black covering over the front end.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Dave Shisler at (714) 661-6215.
