Program for Abused Deaf Children Honored
The Advocacy Council for Abused Deaf Children has been given the Child Abuse Council of the Year Award by the California Consortium to Prevent Child Abuse.
The Advocacy Council, associated with Five Acres, a services center for abused and neglected children based in Altadena, consists of deaf professionals and hearing advocates for the hearing-impaired in Southern California.
One of its recent projects was establishing specialized tribunals for the hearing-impaired in the Los Angeles Dependency Court.
