LONG BEACH : New CSULB President to Earn $142,008 Yearly

Robert Maxson, who will assume the presidency of of Cal State Long Beach June 1, will be paid $142,008 a year, California State University trustees decided Wednesday.

Maxson, who has been president of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for 13 years, will rank as the second highest paid president in the Cal State system, though he will be taking a $20,000 pay cut.

Maxson, 58, will live at the official president’s residence, the 5,500-square-foot Miller House, on El Mirador Avenue near the campus, university spokesman Steve MacCarthy said.

Karl Anatol, who has served as interim president at Long Beach since January, 1993, will remain at the campus as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. Anatol, who was also a candidate for the presidency, was paid $117,768 a year in his interim role.
