Tansley, Goodrich Win Big West Track Titles
Cal State Fullerton’s Mike Tansley and Traci Goodrich of UC Irvine won individual titles during the first day of the Big West Conference track and field championships Friday at Las Cruces, N.M.
Tansley won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9 minutes 21.30 seconds, four seconds faster than second-place Mike Davidson of Utah State, defending conference champion in the event.
Goodrich won the women’s 10,000 in 37:52.17. Fullerton’s Heather Killeen was third in 38:18.19.
In the men’s 10,000, Irvine’s Todd Coulston was second in 32:44.43 and Tony Castellon of Fullerton was third in 32:59.14. Fullerton’s Casie Lozano was third in the women’s long jump in 18 feet 3 1/4 inches.
The Fullerton men are tied for third with UC Santa Barbara with 17 points. Irvine is sixth with 13 points. Utah State is first with 71.
Fullerton’s women are fourth with 12 points. Irvine is tied with New Mexico State with 10 points. Utah State is first with 40. The competition concludes today.
