Public Service: Volunteer Cleanup Project Is Saturday
The 2nd annual citywide community service event known as The Works will take place Saturday with volunteers to plant trees, read to children, renovate youth centers and shelters, paint murals and clean up Los Angeles neighborhoods.
The Works ’94 is sponsored by L.A. Works, a nonprofit organization committed to revitalizing the city.
This year, volunteers will work on 40 projects, including painting and renovation at the Berendo Family Center, arts and crafts at the L.A. Boys & Girls Club, food sorting at a food bank, graffiti abatement and tree-planting. Volunteers will gather at Exposition Park, 900 Exposition Blvd., at 8 a.m. and will be bused to project sites.
