Four Ventura County sheriff’s deputies have been shifted to covering the city of Moorpark to fill vacancies left by those who were promoted or transferred to other positions in the department, sheriff’s officials said.

Senior Deputy Tim Cowgill, a 14-year veteran who has worked in Camarillo and the County Jail, was moved to Moorpark to become patrol supervisor, Sgt. Keith Parks said.

Moorpark will also get two new patrol officers--Deputy Jody Keller, a 13-year veteran who has worked in the Custody Division, and Deputy Jerry Gomez, who completed patrol orientation in Moorpark after working for three years at the County Jail.

The department also transferred Deputy Larry Bull from Thousand Oaks to Moorpark, where he will work as a detective on the 22-member force, Parks said.

Parks said the department is still waiting for two patrol deputies to finish training so that they can fill vacancies in Moorpark that are being covered on an overtime basis by deputies from other details.
