Police captured two men accused of smashing into a Fountain Valley guitar store with their car early Monday and fleeing with $20,000 worth of musical equipment.

Police Sgt. Dann Bean said officers responding to a 5:11 a.m. silent burglar alarm at the Guitar Center, 18361 Euclid St., saw three suspects loading a car with guitars and amplifiers.

The car had been used to smash through the rear doors of the store, police said.

The burglars fled in the car, but abandoned the vehicle on the San Diego Freeway near the Euclid Street freeway on-ramp, police said.

Officers chased the suspects on foot, running across freeway lanes, and early commuter traffic was halted during the chase, Bean said.

Two of the suspects, Claude Edward Smith, 33, and Edward Price, 19, both of Los Angeles, were arrested when they were discovered hiding in a nearby storage lot, police said.

The unidentified third suspect escaped.

Price was bitten on the ankle and buttocks by a Fountain Valley Police dog during the chase, according to police.

Smith and Price were being held on felony charges at the Huntington Beach Jail, with bail set at $10,000 each, police said.
