Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : Woman’s Body Found Near Tracks
A railroad engineer spotted the body of a woman alongside the tracks near the intersection of Avenue R-8 and 10th Street East on Wednesday morning as the freight train he was riding moved east through the city, authorities said.
Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the suspicious death of the unidentified woman, described as a Latina or white woman between 20 and 35 years, said Sgt. Ron Spear, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
After spotting the body, the Southern Pacific railroad engineer notified a ground crew to check the area, which is near a residential section. The crew found the body and contacted the Sheriff’s Department, Spear said.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
