On the day after his first victory as the Angels’ new manager, Marcel Lachemann received a congratulatory phone call from Buck Rodgers. Former Angel general manager Mike Port also called to offer best wishes.

Lachemann said his conversation with Rodgers did not involve advice on individual players.

“We had a nice little visit,” Lachemann said. “Basically, he said he liked the team and he liked the kids. Nothing specific. I knew quite a few of these guys from before, anyway.”

Brian Anderson threw off a mound for the first time since suffering a broken left thumb May 6 and reported no pain.
