HOLLYWOOD : Reservoir Will Be Closed to Recreation Until Friday

The Hollywood Reservoir will be closed for recreational activities until Friday morning for disinfection testing and treatment, authorities said.

Department of Water and Power workers will inject chlorine into the 1.3-billion-gallon reservoir to help control bacterial growth that typically occurs during this season.

Public access to the popular jogging and cycling area will be restricted temporarily, DWP spokeswoman Debra Sass said, because portable chlorination equipment will be placed on the reservoir’s perimeter road.

There will be no interruption of water service to customers during the treatment process, she added. The reservoir will be returned to service as soon as water quality testing is finished.
