THOUSAND OAKS : Bank Robbery Done Quietly; Few Notice
Using a maroon-colored folder and silver handgun, a bank robber strolled into a Thousand Oaks bank on Monday and performed a robbery so quietly that other customers and bank employees did not notice the crime until after he had left, authorities said.
About 1:30 p.m., a man approached a teller at the Long Beach Bank on West Hillcrest Drive and opened his folder, which had a demand note taped to it. Beside the folder, the robber held a silver handgun, FBI Special Agent Larry Dick said.
The robber didn’t say a word to the teller, who gave him the money without resistance, Dick said. The robber then walked out of the bank and fled. The amount of money the robber made off with was not disclosed.
“It was done very quietly,” Dick said. “There were about five people in the bank, and only two people knew that there had been a robbery--the teller and another bank employee who happened to be near her.”
