Lynda Lacayo has received the city’s annual award for outstanding contribution to the arts. The city’s Recreation and Park District also announced this year’s winners in the 19th Annual Cypress Juried Art Exhibit.

Lacayo is a founding member of the Friends of Cypress Cultural Arts. She was a member of the Cypress Cultural Arts Commission from 1987 to 1993, serving as chairwoman for two years.

During her service on the commission, she represented Cypress on the North Orange County Consortium of the Arts, began the Concerts on the Green summer program, and was responsible for developing the “Art in Public Places” program, which provides exhibit space throughout the city to artists during Arts Week.
