Guardian Angels Could Be Solution to Crime

Share

* I was greatly impressed with G.C. (Brodie) Broderson’s recommendation that the Guardian Angels be used to patrol the crime-infested areas of Sepulveda Boulevard (May 5).

God knows everything else has been tried, with only temporary success at best. Broderson’s proposal could bring greater and more constant pressure on the prostitutes, johns, pimps and other criminals who frequent the area.

The occasional police sweeps and sting operations just don’t do the job. It’s incredible how quickly these people are right back on the street doing the same thing for which they were just arrested. Broderson’s proposal comes at a time when too many people have the attitude of “what’s the use.”

Just this past week, my daughter was in one of the stores along Sepulveda Boulevard when two gang members walked in, calmly stole some merchandise and jumped into a waiting car. The owner didn’t even bother to call the police. It had happened several times before, and another time-consuming police report, with little chance of favorable results, wasn’t going to make it any better.

Hats off to Broderson. He obviously hasn’t given up and keeps moving ahead for a better community.
