COVINA: A condom vending machine valued at $422 was stolen last week from the Bullshed Bar, 630 S. Shoppers Lane, between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon.

EL MONTE: A robbery victim who allegedly armed himself after the crime and killed one of his assailants has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The incident began late Friday evening outside Los Gavilotas Bar at 11437 Garvey Ave., when Allen Roberts, 39, of El Monte, and Anthony Arteaga, 31, of East Los Angeles, allegedly robbed two men at knifepoint. Emilio Avellaneda Huipio, 26, of La Puente, was stabbed in the side but did not suffer serious injuries. After the incident, the other robbery victim, Marco Valdez, an El Monte man described as in his 20s, reportedly obtained a semiautomatic rifle and fired several shots. One hit Roberts in the upper torso, killing him. Valdez was in custody, as was Arteaga, who was booked on suspicion of robbery. Huipio was questioned and released.

LA VERNE: A 22-year-old man was robbed and stabbed Sunday by two juveniles as he was walking in the 2100 block of B Street at 9:30 p.m. Daniel Marz of La Verne was approached by two males, described as 14 or 15 years old, who asked for his wallet. Marz fought with the juveniles and one of them stabbed him in the leg. Marz’s wallet was later found, missing its money--$4. No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.

MONROVIA: A 19-year-old man suspected of drunk driving was arrested Monday after he allegedly hit a bicyclist. Juan Horta of Monrovia drove his car through a stop sign at 50 m.p.h., police said. The driver hit the back tire of a bicycle and knocked the rider, a 28-year-old Monrovia man, off his bike. The victim sustained minor injuries to his right leg and shoulder, police said. Horta is in the city jail pending filing of felony hit and run and felony drunk driving charges, police said.

MONROVIA: A Monrovia man was arrested on suspicion of recklessly discharging a firearm Friday after he allegedly fired six shots in a home in the 100 block of E. Cherry Street. Ricky Ricks, 28, was visiting the home of Preston Rogers, 26, when an argument broke out about 11 a.m., police said. No one was injured.

PASADENA: A 22-year-old man who was shot Sunday night died at Huntington Memorial Hospital early Monday, police said. Michael Boyd was found with several gunshot wounds outside an apartment complex at 830 N. El Molino Ave. at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. Boyd reportedly lived at 838 N. El Molino Ave., the apartment complex next door. Police believe Boyd may have been visiting friends to use the telephone in an apartment in the complex. An investigation is continuing.

PASADENA: Unknown people in a car shot at another car in the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue on Sunday but injured no one. Two people, one of whom is a juvenile, were riding in the car that was shot at, police said. The victims are reluctant to talk, said police, who believe the incident is gang-related.

POMONA: A 10-year-old boy died Friday when the family truck in which he was riding crashed on a freeway transition road, highway patrol officers said. Michael Rodriguez died at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 5 a.m. on the connector from the westbound San Bernardino Freeway to the northbound Foothill Freeway, officers said. His parents and younger sister, who were also in the truck, suffered minor injuries. The family was headed from their Fontana home to Pismo Beach for the Memorial Day weekend, officers said. The boy and his sister were apparently riding in a camper in the bed of the pickup, which was pulling a small trailer carrying two off-road motorcycles. The father, Miguel Rodriguez, who was driving, apparently lost control as he attempted to change lanes and the truck overturned, police said.
