LOS ANGELES : Ex-Convict Pleads Guilty in Real Estate Broker’s Killing

Share

An ex-convict and former gang member pleaded guilty to first-degree murder Wednesday in the killing of a real estate broker in July, 1992, at a home in Coldwater Canyon.

Under the terms of a plea agreement, Anthony Rodriguez Pacheco, 39, will be sentenced on Aug. 3 to 36 years to life in prison.

The body of Elaine Siegel was found in a bathroom of the Hollywood Hills home where she had been conducting an open house for other brokers. She had been stabbed 13 times and strangled.

Pacheco, who was working at the time as a sandwich delivery man, “may have gone to the house just to look around and something happened that might have caused him to react in a violent manner,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Montagna Montagna said Wednesday. “We just don’t know.”

Pacheco, who had served a four-year prison term for a gang-related shooting in Ventura County, was arrested after one of his sisters told police that he might have killed Siegel.
