CITY 3-A BASEBALL QUARTERFINALS : Pitching, Home-Run Barrage Silence Bell, 5-1

With the help of four home runs and Frank Catano’s strong pitching, Franklin prevailed over Bell, 5-1, Wednesday at Franklin.

Catano gave up only three hits and struck out five batters in six innings.

Ahead 2-0 in the fourth, Franklin’s Jeff Deno, Ricky Catano and Oscar Cabrera hit consecutive home runs to put the Panthers up by five.

Bell’s only run came on a sacrifice fly by third baseman Larry Gayton.
