Advice to Young Cops as They Start Careers
Re your recent piece about three young LAPD officers one year after their entry into the exciting--sometimes shocking--world of professional law enforcement (“Welcome to the Real World,” May 19). Although I applaud zeal in any occupation, we can only hope that these highly trained and appropriately sensitive citizen warriors never have the misfortune of being present during an unusually difficult arrest (i.e. the Rodney King fiasco), or worse, attempt to make the arrest themselves in front of a video camera.
