T.V. Show to Focus on County Businesses

Share

A television show debuting June 19 will focus on the business community in Ventura County and its interaction with government and the community, producers at Santa Barbara-based KEYT-TV announced this week.

The program, scheduled for Sundays at 9 a.m., will “provide a positive dialogue” for the county, according to executive producer and host O.C. Jenkins.

“We’re not here to be Rush Limbaugh,” Jenkins said. “We don’t want to attack. You sit down to watch at 9 a.m., you feel good about yourself, and you’re reminded that the American Dream is still alive in Ventura County.”

The half-hour show will feature guest panelists and address topics such as “Improving Our Environment” and “New Business Opportunities for the ‘90s.”

“Our shows are designed to be provocative,” Jenkins said. “If I’m talking, the show is not working.”

He said Gov. Pete Wilson has agreed to appear on one of 13 upcoming broadcasts. The date has not been set.

“I don’t want him to be political,” Jenkins said. “I’m not interested in hearing about Kathleen Brown. Regardless of who is in the driver’s seat after the election, what are the realities, what do we in the county need to look ahead to?”

The show will include a segment on viewer opinions from a toll-free telephone line.

Jenkins previously hosted a cable show, Ventura Today, and interviewed local leaders in daily radio spots for the Ventura Chamber of Commerce.
