ANTELOPE VALLEY : CLAS Test Offered Under Court Order; Few Take It

Share

The Antelope Valley Union High School district offered the controversial California Learning Assessment System tests Friday under court order, but only 460 of 3,000 sophomores chose to take it.

Most students decided not to take it because it conflicted with preparations for final exams.

Students who took the CLAS test said they were motivated by a variety of reasons, with many saying they were unhappy that the district’s Board of Education prevented them from taking it earlier.

The board had voted 3 to 2 to boycott the tests, citing objections to the content and style of the statewide exams.
