WILSHIRE CENTER/ KOREATOWN : Advisory Panel Seeks New Members

Share

The Wilshire Center and Koreatown Community Advisory Committee, organized to develop recommendations for revitalizing the two communities, is seeking nominations for additional members.

Nominations of residents, property owners, merchants and community leaders are being sought to expand the existing 30-member committee, which is working with the Community Redevelopment Agency.

The committee, appointed by City Council members John Ferraro, Nate Holden and Jackie Goldberg, has been meeting since October to review the economic, physical and social conditions of Wilshire Center and Koreatown as a prelude to devising strategies for improving the area’s quality of life and economic prospects.

In February, the committee recommended establishing a redevelopment project in Wilshire Center and Koreatown to revitalize the area bounded roughly by 5th and 12th streets to the north and south and Hoover Street and Western Avenue on the east and west.

If the committee’s recommendation generates sufficient community support, the CRA’s board of commissioners, the Planning Commission and the City Council will consider implementing the redevelopment proposal.

The deadline for nominations is June 30.
