DANA POINT : Soroptimists Honor Volunteer Hinman

Soroptimist International of Capistrano Bay has named Dana Point resident Susan Hinman as this year’s Capistrano Bay Area Woman of Distinction.

Hinman was recognized for working with a variety of charities and local improvement programs for more than 20 years.

She has been a board member of the Dana Point Civic Assn., the Dana Point Historic Society, the Capistrano Valley Symphony and the YWCA Hotel for Women.

“I know and have worked with many of the women who have been recognized” as woman of distinction, Hinman said. “I have very high regard for them, so I’m extremely honored to be one of them.”

As an executive assistant to Supervisor Thomas F. Riley, Hinman has supported placing more county health and social services in South County. The Soroptimists also recognized her for her work on behalf of battered women and homeless people.
