SANTA ANA : Library Is Named After Volunteer

Santa Ana Unified School District officials have voted to name a local high school library after the late Patricia Ann Pleshe, recognizing her 27 years of service to students and the community.

For 19 years, Pleshe, who died in March at age 66 after battling lung cancer, was active in parent-teacher associations, served as room mother and volunteered at Santiago Elementary School, Willard Intermediate School and Santa Ana High School while her children attended those campuses.

For eight years afterward, she served as a fund raiser for the district’s Regional Occupational Program.

During that time, she raised more than $300,000 to pay for college and trade school scholarships for 381 students, said her husband, Carlos Pleshe.

Carlos Pleshe added that he and his family were thrilled by the board’s decision to name the school after his wife and were especially pleased that the library lobby will include a plaque describing her accomplishments.

“This is a tremendous honor. That’s fantastic, just the idea that these kids can see that one person can really make a difference,” he said.
