PLACENTIA : Council To Consider $23.1-Million Budget

Share

The City Council tonight will consider a spending plan for fiscal year 1994-95 that would cut six positions, including one police officer.

The budget would also require a transfer of more than $1.5 million from the utility tax fund to the city’s general fund to pay for day-to-day operation of the city.

The proposed $23.1-million budget is up 8.8% over the budget for the previous year.

However, with revenue expected to be only $20.8 million, the city is considering transferring money from the utility tax fund to help make up the deficit.

The elimination of a police officer reduces the department to 50 officers, down from 54 in 1990.

Four park maintenance worker positions will be cut under the proposed budget, and a technician position will be reduced from full to part time.

Only one employee, a park maintenance worker, will be affected by the cuts because the other positions will be eliminated through attrition.

City officials say the total savings to the city from the cuts will be $200,000.
