The Canadian publication, Soccer Canada, issued a special World Cup edition that featured 25 World Cup teams. For reasons known only to the editors, the Canadian team also was included in the team profiles.

Canada did not qualify. Wishful thinking, perhaps?

The same issue also published a feature on the next World Cup beneath the headline: “126 Million Seconds to France ’98.”

And the countdown continues.
